SODDEN PELT A STRUGGLING AFTERNOON

Riding the coattails of their oddball opus 'Last of the Seagulls' and their idiosyncratic mission statement 'Honey For A Doctor', South London's Sodden Pelt unleash 'A Struggling Afternoon'. Taught with wiry guitars and propulsive drumming, songwriter and vocalist Paddy Hornby's characterful delivery carries the theatrical piece. Part flamboyant western, part krautrock wig-out, 'A Struggling Afternoon' leans into its extremes, trudging through sludgy bass breaks before breaking out into intimate folky interludes. Lifted from their forthcoming debut EP Peeling Cupboards (due out on the 7th of November), 'A Struggling Afternoon' is another prominent offering from a band with a bold and uncompromising vision. -Holly Mullineaux
